Across the board

It has been a long hiatus and I have gone from looking like this....

To this....

The pretty lady on the right of me is my colleague, A.

As you can tell very obviously, I cut my fringe. Again. I had to! It was the only way my large forehead could be covered!

*Quote from the Red Queen in Tim Burton's version of "Alice in Wonderland" : I like largeness.*

Damnit I can probably be her best friend because of the largeness of my forehead.

Anyway, I digress. I haven't been updating my blog lately due to a myriad of factors. Boss leaving, Deepavali, preparing for impending ROM, trying to hang out with as many friends that I have lost contact with as much as I can...the works.

And through this whole process, I have been encountering things that have made me wonder how the people around think.

Case 1:
The One That Stood Out
Nobody, and I mean, NOBODY, said anything negative about my new hairstyle except for one person who probably thought she was being cute. But it seems no one bothered about her comment too. The thing is, I have never been someone who can stand OTT act cuteness because if you are cute, you are cute. If you are not, no matter what you do, you are NOT cute. So deal with it. I'm not being bitter or sensitive about that one comment but I think as adults, as almost 30 year old adults, we should be a little more mature, no? If you have nothing good to say, don't say it.

Case 2:
No Through Road
I may sound like I'm complaining here but trust me, I'm not. I'm addressing issues. Societal issues which we all need to have changed. Messaging while on the go is common. But when you cannot walk properly while messaging, now THAT'S a whole new ball game. If you cannot multi-task, please please put that phone away unless what you are texting is a matter of life and death and if it is, you should be TALKING on the phone and not texting! Knocking into people and blocking our way when we are in a hurry is not cool.

Case 3:
Case of the Cab
Bloody cab fares are rising like nobody's business. I took a cab from my place in Bukit Timah to Queenstown and it cost me $20.50.

WTF????? And it was a mere 10 to 15 minutes taxi ride!

I need someone to look into this. I do not understand why cab drivers complain so much about fares not being enough. Let me give you a piece of advice taxi uncles of Singapore. If you want to get more money, you pick up more passengers and be more hardworking. Money will not fall from the sky while you are having your 5 hour coffee break at your favorite kopitiam and making senseless conversation with people around you.

Seriously!

Case 4:
Being Nice
Is it so difficult to be nice to other people who deserve it? 'Nuff said.

Case 5:
Slowly Does NOT Do It!
No people. Boarding the bus/train/car slowly is not right especially when you are doing it in the middle of the road or in the middle of peak hour. Don't be idiotic and hold everyone up just coz you are going to be on time. Think of those who need to tap in when they get to the office within the next 5 minutes!

On a lighter note, it hasn't been a very busy time for me recently which is good coz this means I can blog more often. LOL! I'll leave you with some Deepavali pics from yesterday!
